Presidential Candidates......Back To Basics Please?

The political landscape in the 2008 Presidential race is one not quite like I any can remember or have read about. Even more so on the Republican side. Although it is very early in the race, the status of the candidates are not even what I had expected thus far and it also has media pundits befuttled and throwing out predictions and forecasts that a television weatherman can surely sympathize. Not only is there not a clear cut front runner or "stand out" candidate, but there is a blur in policy, beliefs and a blindness in the party as to what the voter not only wants to hear but needs to hear. Many of my Republican/conservative friends may not like to hear this....but the Republicans do not "get it"....when it comes to what the voter needs to hear from their candidates. Giuliani who was once the most promising to be the nominee, is hardly a blip on the radar, Thompson may bow out if he does not do well in the next primary. Mike Huckabee is making statements that put him in precarious situations daily. Ron Paul who has a smaller base than the rest but has the most energetic, but yet his "isolationist" ways scare most. Mitt Romney although victorious in Michigan, still is not convincing most.
There is party "infighting" and frustration that is becoming more and more evident as days go by, the Republican party seems to have an identity crisis going on and is trying to identify itself as it goes along. This week on Rush Limbaugh, he and Newt Gingrich got into a somewhat of a heated disagreement on whether or not the Reagan Era is over... In my opinion the era may be over but the belief system is not. Reagan had too profound of an impact on the conservative movement.
As for the Republican candidates?? I must agree with this part of Rush's response to Newt..
What's lacking, if you will, is intellectual and political leadership. Let me be even more specific. Where's the Russell Kirk? Where's the Bill Buckley? Where's the Milton Friedman of our day? Where's the Barry Goldwater, the Ronald Reagan? We have people who claim to hold the mantle of these greats, and yet they also claim that the mantle to hold is not worth holding, that we gotta redefine it because the era is over. If you believe that liberty, national security, free enterprise, faith, and the Constitution are dead, then what are you saying? On what do you base your definition of conservatism? If we don't properly diagnose the problem, we aren't going to be able to fix this.
This article by Fr. Jonathan Morris of FOXNews.com sums up my thoughts...Read Article Here..
The Democrats are having problems of their own, after a week of bringing race of all things to the forefront, and kneeling to those who walk on MLK's true intentions.
Or taking credit for successes and acheivements they had nothing to with. I can only imagine what the upcoming MLK Day (observed) weekend will bring from this bunch. Or what about Hillary's 35 years of change, that I STILL have not heard exactly what she did to "change" things.... (Was she at Valley Forge too?).
Their is plenty of ridiculousness and embarrasment to go around but the energy is behind the Democrats and the Republicans had better take notice.
If candidates want to grasp onto the ideals and accomplishments of our great Americans of the past? Then they might want to look to how the greats got there and what it took.... and look to the heart of their message... That's what matters.

Of course the energy is behind the democrats...when they own the media and are funded by socialist swine like Soros.
Can you imagine if the media just did their jobs and reported things fairly? Like what a swine Soros is and how he is deeply connected to the red beast? Or do you think the red beast would still be in the race if the media reported as much about Norman Hsu, her campaign bundler, as they did Abramoff?
Or how about her dirty dealings in the first healthcare debacle...along with Rockefeller? Read this and weep and wonder....
