American Comedy Genius...The HoneyMooners

How can we talk about about American Comedy Genius without talking about "The HoneyMooners"?? This show aired only one year, 1955-1956 and created thirty nine episodes and thirty nine episodes that would still manage to throw them into the legendary and all time classics of American comedy history. The beauty of this show is that 99% of it was filmed in the Kramden's small apartment with the expected entry of Ed Norton and his wife Trixie. There was not one episode that didn't bring laugh out loud hilarity. I love this show.

The HoneyMooners is a hilarious take on trying to make it and trying to get ahead. Ralph and Ed in each episode are getting into hot water with their far fetched ideas and schemes to get rich.
These thirty nine episodes also inspired the first long running "prime time" and first animated prime time series... The Flintstones.Fred and Barney are indeed Ralph and Ed.....

Jackie Gleason was dubbed "The Great One" and rightfully so. Jackie not only envisioned and brought to life The HoneyMooners but he also created the intro music. Jackie conducted and wrote the music and would go on to make more music which is truly classic and beautiful.

All that being said America Matters....let's take a break and watch some of the great fun The HoneyMooners have brought to American television.

Here is one of my all time favorite episodes..

A Dog's Life (Pt One)

(Part Two Missing) Ralph gets the idea to sell this "great dish idea" to his boss to get rich and well.......

Dog's Life .....The Finish  (Pt.Three)

The HoneyMooners are mid 1950's pure and fun comedy that still is as hilarious now as it was then...

Gleason is vastly underrated in my opinion. How about him in Smoky and the Bandit......yeah, there you go. He carried that movie in my opinion, as the sherrif chasing the Bandit. That's probably my first exposure to him where I was really old enough to appreciate him, what, probably 1978 or so? His performance was pure comedic genius in that movie. One of my all time favorites as a kid growing up. Sherrif Buford T. Justice........frickin' beautiful.

CG, wasn't that classic when he came out of the head with the T.P. trailing him. That still makes me laugh. What was that flic he did with Pryor. Classic also.

Wayne, I believe that was "The Toy" with Richard Pryor. Gleason's character saw Pryor working in a store and hired him to be his son's "play toy", to keep him occupied while his rich father was out working and playing and paying no attention to his kid. Really funny movie with a nice message woven in among the laughs.

        You're right.........classic Gleason.

...... Ole Jackie was a pretty damn good serious actor also. The hustler comes to mind.
