President's Day In America

My kids for one of their Christmas presents got a gigantic "floor puzzle" of the Presidents. The above picture is that very same puzzle. They're going to put it together again tomorrow for Presdient's Day. We have put this puzzle together countless times since Christmas, and in helping them put this puzzle together I have been very curious about some of these distinguished gentlemen. We all know about George Washington (or as my daughter calls him "Bob" Washington), Jefferson, Lincoln, etc. We all grew up learinng of these great men and their important time in history and their impact on America. I wondered, what of some of these other lesser known Presidents?  Like uhhhhh....Chester A. Arthur for example....
Well, Chester Allen Arthur was a top Republican and Vice President under James Garfield who was mortally wounded in an assasination attempt. Before his Presidency, Chester Arthur was appointed to "Colllector of Customs by Ulysses S. Grant and later fired by Rutherford B. Hayes, (Rutherfor B. Hayes was a staunch Christian, who did not agree with Arthur's views) Arthur was a President that came into office not trusted and left the Presidency one of the most trustworthy men of his time... Who were all these men? What role did they play in our country? The story of the U.S. Presidency is truly amazing and full of intrigue and the will to progress and excel as a country. Each truly did have his mark and added to the building blocks of America. When I took my family to Williamsburg Virginia.... history really came alive for me, Williamsburg is a totally rebuilt and rejuventated town that is exactly as it was during the time of America's revolution.

I encourage visitors here to check out the Williamsburg link in our sidebar. It is an incredible place to visit.  While in Virginia we had the pleasure of visiting Sherwood Forest Plantation. The home of President John Tyler. This place was absolutely beautiful, gigantic oak trees as you approach the house. Walking into the home, the first thing I noticed was the wonderful scent of history and all the incredible painted portraits on the walls. John Tyler ascended to the Presidency upon the death of William Henry Harrison.

Millard Fillmore                                          Warren G. Harding                         Franklin Pierce

 Who were these men????

What do you know about these Presidents of the United Stated of America? Take the time and dive deep into our history. It is incredible. Read about your Presidents on WhiteHouse.Gov. A great website.

Take the time to explore the lives of our Presidents, and check out some very interesting
Presidential Trivia. It's fun, it's interesting and it matters.......

Happy President's Day! America Matters...........

Thx LT..........

How about Grover Cleveland, the only President elected twice, in non-consecutive terms? Kind of parallels what is happening now, with an outside shot that Bill CLinton could be "elected" again, that's if Hillary wins in November. Ouch.
