Spring Training...Baseball Is Here!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know about the towns that the rest of America Matters lives in, but living here in the St. Louis area and with its deep and rich baseball history? This time of year sparks many feelings among the fans and with Americans in heartland. The beautiful words ring in my ears today.....It's called "Spring Training". Those two words mean so much.  It means many things this time of year. In a harsh time of winter..but hearing of our ball players showing up for training down south? The reports that our broadcasters bring on the upcoming season and introductions of our young players and the dedicated vets showing up and working out the quirks in their mecahnics or injuries? We are pumped up and ready to go.

I cherish this time of year in that, not only is it exceiting to see old familiar friends return, but baseball is so fitting with the upcoming Spring season in its rejuvenation and renewal. I can't wait to shake the winter off my back and see the Red of the Cardinals , the green of the grass, and hear the crack of the bat. Baseball is truly a coming together for Americans and an awakening into the good times. When Baseball opens...it opens the door to a side of America that no other sport can bring.

Baseball is not even neccesarily my favorite sport to watch on television or even to see live at the stadium, and I have been to countless games. It is however, my favorite sport to listen to on the radio as I wash my car, clean the garage, mow the lawn, or hang out with family and friends. There is a beauty in baseball in that it is friendly to the eyes and ears. Baseball is truly my favorite sport to cherish. It is a common bond between almost all Americans, and every American knows something about the game or has played it themselves. So many stories in baseball....

Baseball Is Something That Reminds Us Of All That Was Once Good....

Baseball is here and spring is just around the corner. What a great time of year. Before you know it, the true American sport will be in full swing. Even with all the negative spotlight brought upon the sport, with steroids etc., and America Matters has been harder on that than anyone....But if "Hammerin" Hank says it will be alright? Then it will be allright...Then It's Okay.  Baseball and its purity and the learining experience that comes with it, will prevail.... So enjoy America because baseball is back and with it, it brings good times and something all American. Baseball matters... Get ready folks....

We All Want That Big Home Run!!

Thx LT.............

"People will come Ray, people will most definately come." As far as sports movies go, and baseball movies in particular, Field of Dreams is a MUST view for everyone, especially if you're a father. Baseball has marked the time. How many days can you look back and say that you had the opportunity to "have a catch" with your dad? Those are the memories that will be cherrished by me forever. One of the few movies....few mind you....that draw a tear out of the big man's eyes. I'm not a huge Kevin Costner fan, but this piece of work is his crowning achievment in my estimation. "Can I ask you a question? Is this heaven? No, it's Iowa. Iowa? I could have sworn it was heaven."

I agree CG, there is nothing like playing catch with "the old man". Field Of Dreams is a great movie and it truly displays the beauty of baseball, and legend in America. I love that movie.

You my friend are an example of "the old man" Three boys, baseball, basketball, and practice and games 7 days a week? I admire that my brother.

Whatta ya say we build "America Matters" stadium out here in the sticks? First rule of law? Dollar beers and 50cent hot dogs! America Matters member Wayne McIntyre can be the stadium announcer. How bout' that?

      Thx LT...

I love baseball, but I am very discouraged by it and have been for over a decade. Between the strike and Selig and the steroids it's difficult to know what to think and who to trust. Most of the "clean" players have made the Hall of Fame already, which was the last thing I hung on to. I'm going to try again this year; I've even taken my 8 year old to the baseball card shop and picked up some cards for myself. Maybe my love for the game will return this year.
