The Three Stooges...American Comedy Genius

Another entry of American Comedy Genius. As I think about American Comedy Geniuses, I am surprised at myself that this team was not my first entry. The first entry, because these guys have been woven into my love of comedy since I was a wee LT. The Three Stooges, as I was growing up were on KPLR TV St. Louis around 7:00am on school days. Right after the Lone Ranger. Many times they were followed by the Stooges animated features. The Three Stooges are the epitome of slapstick, one liners, facial expressions, sight gags, and were goofs beating the the bad guys. The Stooges took their ignorant hilarity into bungled victories and even getting the girls along the way. I love me some Stooges.... They are without a doubt American Comedy Genius.
Growing up in the St. Louis area many of the neighborhood kids would meet at one particular friends house and watch The Stooges before heading down the street, with pop tarts in hand and heading for the bus stop. Everytime I watch the Stooges, it brings back memories of those days as a kid. The Stooges are universal as it comes to comedy, kids can enjoy them as well as adults. It's simple fun. The great thing about this comedy team is that each time you watch one of their shorts you can catch something you missed the last time..They were true professionals.
It's the goofy little shots and clips within the shorts, and wondering who came up with these non-sensical masterpieces....
Watch Right Here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As I became an adult, my love of the Stooges never waned...KPLR TV St. Louis had ran The Three Stooges from 11:30PM to 2:00AM on Saturday nights for years...so long, that it became a staple that everyone could depend on. There was something special about being out partying with your friends and ending an evening to the black and white flicker of The Stooges on your television while having a midnight snack. I didn't just enjoy the Stooges' comedy itself to be certain, but I also enjoyed checking out the cars, clothes, jargon, buildings, and the landscape in the background....just thought it was cool...and I still do....
The Stooges began their career in the early days of Vaudeville, Moe (Harry Moses Horwitz), Curly (Jerome Lester Horowitz) and Shemp (Samuel Horowitz) were brothers and of course their life long friend, Larry Fine(Louis Feinberg)....Did you know that Moe's nickname growing up was "Curly"? He was called "Curly" as a child because he had long locks of curly hair. Curly's REAL nickname was "Babe"...Confusing isn't it? But hey, what do you expect from the Stooges???
It's funny to think that as a child they took this great American comedy treasure off the television throughout America because "they" thought The Stooges were too violent, especially considering the garbage on television today. I say that we have a lot to learn from The Stooges....
Just Watch This Here!!!
The Three Stooges are most certainly American Comedy Genius. We will always watch these great shorts and movies over and over again and we never get tired of them. We find something new in them each and everytime and that is why the Stooges are eternal in American comedy......
