Thank You Allman & Crane In The Morning

Yesterday morning...My son Noah and I had the honor of waking up at the crack of dawn and rolling into St. Louis to spend this great morning with a great patriotic and caring group of radio people on their show. It was Memorial Day after all. It was Noah's eighth birthday, and dammit! It was John Wayne's birthday as well.... Wild horses could not have kept us away! So anyway we grabbed our hats and guns and hopped on our horses... We got in the Buick and headed out to pick up donuts. All the while forgetting that Jamie Allman & Crane Durham are health nuts, but hey they were Krispy Cremes for crying out loud and we didn't have time to stop and have Wheat Germ smoothies made! ...All kidding aside......

Walking into the station, Assoc. Producer Ray gave us a tour.  The building (The PowerHouse) holds several Emmis stations including the legendary KSHE 95. There are autographed guitars hanging all throughout the halls, legendary names on them.....Don't tell anyone but Noah and I stopped and signed our names on one with a sharpie..... Just kidding!........... ( It's the red one that says Noah & Dad Rocks 08!)

It was a day my son and I will never forget. You often here about radio folks and ego etc? It was so far from the truth with these kind people. I just can't say enough about them. This is just one reason why CG and I, have made strong note of this show and 97.1 FM Talk in our blog's side bar. Yes, it is a conservative leaning station, make no bones about that. However Allman & Crane's show is unique compared to other shows, in that they welcome all callers and viewpoints.  It is an enlightening show to listen to and is not your typical ridiculous morning show with a variety of fart jokes and prank phone calls. Nope, instead it is a show on the issues that affect us all. Issues tackled with character and reason and all done in entertaining and fun fashion.

It was a special day to say the least....

What made the day even more special is that Jamie Allman is about to become a military dad. His brave young son has joined the Army and is heading off to basic training tomorrow. How noble and refreshing is it to know that young men (and women) are still taking up the cause and joining our armed forces in a time of war?  We all have the tendencies to think that America is changing?.....and it is, but its core and its heart is still alive and well and that is what matters. With young men like Jamie's son... and those that reinforce our patriotism like 97.1 FM Talk and Allman & Crane In The Morning? That's what keeps things rock solid and nothing can change that. Nothing.

Thanks Jamie, Crane, Denys (The Queen!), Max, Ray, and James. Keep up the good work and thanks so very much!

Hi, Jamie. I am back in the St. Louis area after being gone since college, (1975), and have caught your show in the mornings on the way to work. Just wondering...is your mom Peggy and your dad Mike? If so, I knew them in a former life. Peggy and I used to watch Mike play keyboards in a band when we were in high school. Please let me know. Otherwise, I'll see you at the John McCain rally on Sunday. Thanks.
