Dana Loesch Calls Out Gingrich

Newt Gingrich has been one of the major pillars for conservatism for years, at least for me. I have always been amazed at his knowledge of so many subjects and topics and poignant take on issues that our country faces. Newt takes his knowledge of history and injects it into our current troubles and triumphs and can tie them together with eloquence and a commanding grasp of the topic. A great speaker, a teacher. He is well respected and is in high demand in all facets of media and speaking engagements.

Being a political junkie and surrounded by political talk all my life, and with my grandfather and step-father both running for political offices when I was a kid, I have always stayed in tune with the political arena. Ronald Reagan was the President who made the most impact on me and after Reagan left office there was never and has never been anyone like him since then for the Republican party, much less conservatism. Bob Dole although he recieved my first vote at 18 years of age, was not to happen and years later I was convinced that Newt was a rising star with what it takes. The House Speaker with a Republican majority who blazed a trail with the Contract For America. Bill Clinton's greatest nemesis and quite possible more powerful at the time than Bill himself.

In 1995 Newt was coming to St.Louis for a book signing. I called my best friend and Army buddy and he flew in from Wheeling, WV for the weekend to attend a book signing with me for Newt's new book "To Renew America" a great read. We stood in line for almost three hours to shake his hand and get it autographed.  What can I say? Two Army guys that certainly loved sitting around drinking beer and watching football, yet we had no problem with sitting around drinking beer and watching CSPAN either. So needless to say, Newt was always "promise" to me and you wouldn't find a more staunch "Newt Guy" than myself.

So here we are 13 Newt books later and he now over Hannitized and over-Foxed Newt still has not made his run. Only a teased quip about that thought and then retreating back to his "projects" and yet another book. Still a great speaker and advisor behind the scenes to some and yet times slips away. All the while I still have held out hope that he would come out guns blazing, especially with the socialist and erratic behavior of the current Obama administration. Hasn't happened yet.

So like so many that have been lifelong conservative voters, Newt was expected to be something more than just a talking head, but a lightning rod for the cause of conservativism. Instead Newt has made his recent endorsement in a political fog machine and shows all the backroom dealings of typical politics and these dealings have infuriated many conservatives like those in the Tea Party movement and namely as it goes for Dana Loesch midwest radio and voices from the Tea Party movement.

For me a LONG time supporter of Newt and one waiting with bated breath for his run, initially I was aggravated with Dana's comments on radio and her website.  Yet when hearing Newt voice his reasoning I had second thoughts, Dana was right. Her beef with Newt was who he has chose to endorse in Dede Scozzafava in NY's 23rd, a liberal Republican and it seems that Newt is attempting to stretch or make larger the Republican party by endorsing someone like Scozzofava. He agreed to endorse her in that she signs the anti-tax pledge which she did. That I suppose was enough for Newt? Really?

So Dough Hoffman with the background and all the resume of the type of conservative you would think that the Republican party would want right?

Seems also oddly enough that Former Governor Mike Huckabee has refused to back her opponent Doug Hoffman as well as Newt. Hoffman being the most conservative of the two running.  This suprises me given that Scozzofava is pro-choice.

Read Here From American Spectator

Newt Gingrich and Huckabee as well are trying to make the Republican Party more palatable I suppose and yet in the process leaving out the party base in conservative to move in more liberal minded politicians. In fact it is diluting the party and this move is what is divisive, not what one might here otherwise in regards to the Tea Party members. Yet while folks like Newt and Huckabee find joy in latching onto the momentum created by the Tea Party movement, they are the group creating division and uncertainty.

So what does this say for the future of the conservative movement and the Tea Party folks?  I may be way off here, but I see the Reps seperating themselves from the Tea Partiers and before long the Reps will be calling the Tea Partiers radical and fringe right along with the Dems.  Not that they agree with that assumption, but rather they will do this as a strategy and in blind betrayal.

  Thx
